About Us: The History of Carr-Lancaster

Carr-Lancaster Post was founded in June of 1993, when a group of Veterans from Lincoln and Cumberland met with State Officer's and 1st District Officer's of the V.F.W. to form a Veteran of Foreign Wars Post in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Our first official meeting was at the Lincoln Town Hall.

On July 18, 1993, the second meeting was held to elect officers. Our first elected Commander was Brian Piggot, and our first Quartermaster was Ron Beagan.

We chose to name our post Carr-Lancaster, after two local servicemen - James L. Carr, as Army soldier who was killed in action in World War II, and Robert W. Lancaster, an Army soldier who was killed in action in Vietnam.

In August of 1993, the new VFW Post moved its meeting site to the Lincoln Senior Center on Chapel Street, where it remains to this day.

Carr-Lancaster VFW Post #10213 has grown and accomplished a great deal since our first meeting all those many years ago. We're proud of the hard work and dedication of our Officers and Members, which has made the Post a driving force in the community.

In the years to come, we will continue to support veterans and veterans issues, help our neighbors in the community, and foster patriotism in word and deed. We will also always remember and honor the service and sacrifice of the two young men for whom our Post is named. They, like so many others, gave their lives so that we can be free.

We thank you for your interest in our Post, and we invite you to join us on the second Thursday of every month, at 7:00pm, at the Lincoln Senior Center on Chapel Street in Lincoln.
